State Street Art Crawl October 2019

State Street Art Crawl is upon us again and the lineup is getting bigger.
Rob Shaw Gallery and Framing is hosting Collections-A Multi Artist Show (with art by Lindsay Wiggins, Dylan Fouste, and Pascale Bilgis, amongst others)
Frame of Mind will be hosting the wonderful Asheville artist Tarah Singh with music by Preach Jacobs.
State Street Trading and the Warehouse will also be hosting opening receptions (respectively).
Rhythm on the River will be going full force at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre with The Get Right Band and Jeff Lucero.
New Brookland Tavern will be hosting comedian Carmen Morales, the headline act for Cola Comedy Con.
And FOOD...Black Rooster, Al's Upstairs, Terra, and Cafe Strudel will all be open and serving their amazing fare.
Extras...The Cigar Box, Ed's Edition, the interactive art park (behind Terra), the new mural beside New Brookland, and of course the Riverwalk park.
Come out and have a night of fun with us!!!!

2019 Fall Rhythm on the River presented by the GCWC Chamber of Commerce, House of Raeford and the City of West Columbia. ROR starts Friday, September 27 and also takes place every Friday in October from 6 PM to 9 PM at West Columbia's Riverwalk Amphitheater. 

PLEASE NOTE - Friday, September 27 Rhythm on the River will be an alcohol-free night, "Recovery on the River". The Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services to create this special night at the Amphitheater for local Midlands residents in recovery. Special music acts Rob Crosby and Sour Wood Honey. No alcohol allowed. Also sponsored by The Courage Center, Favor and Midlands Recover Center.

Family Day at True Pharmacy!

True Pharmacy celebrates its Family Day at its new pharmacy this week! The independently owned community pharmacy opened its doors on August 12th and is established at 1628 Charleston Hwy., West Columbia, SC 29169. The Family Day event is held on Saturday, October 5th from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The event will include a bouncy house, snacks and goodie bags. Everyone is invited to attend the event and see the new community pharmacy.

National Night Out

3rd Annual National Night Out is scheduled for October 7th, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The event will be at the Cayce Public Safety Complex located at 2 Lavern Jumper Road.

There will be hotdogs, popcorn, K9 Demonstrations, Bounce House, Face Painting, Music, Games, Traffic Safety Road Course, and so much more. 

This community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships.

It’s the South Carolina State Fair’s 150th birthday, and the award-winning organization — a nonprofit awarding $300,000 in scholarships per year across South Carolina — has pulled out all  the stops to ensure that this year’s event, Oct. 9-20, will be brimming with prize-winning memories. There is no increase in ticket prices this year, even with a new free daily circus, a new free concert series featuring regional acts and a slew of 150th anniversary activities and exhibits.

Cayce Arts Guild Meeting

The Cayce Arts Guild will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, October 10, at 6:00 for food and fellowship at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center, 1120 Congaree Trail.  Business meeting begins at 6:30 followed by an overview of the West Columbia Artisans Market by Mark Plessinger. 
 
Our guest speaker will be Brenda Oliver, Director/Program Coordinator of the Columbia Art Center.  Brenda will tell us about what the Art Center does and how its various programs reach different segments of the population to include the Creative Journey, Worlds of Creativity, and Operation Bedroll.  We are excited that Brenda could work us into her busy schedule.
